Role
Michael Carcone is a 5'9", 182-pound left wing from Ajax who was never drafted. Utah gave him a two-year extension in March 2026 at $1.75 million a year, per Deseret News. Armstrong said Carcone's speed "changes the way our team looks" and called him "a big component of our team."
He scored 21 goals in 74 games in 2023-24, had 7 goals in 53 games in 2024-25, and finished last season with 16 goals and 15 assists in 79 games. This year he scored and added an assist in the opener, with Kevin Stenlund on the goal. He has 2 points in 5 games and 17 shots, the most of the players we cover.
Outlook
He's played 5 of the Mammoth's 7 games. He didn't dress on Oct. 10 or Oct. 13, and we don't know whether that was injury or a coach's decision. His ice time was 10:50 to 13:10 in the games he did play.
Our take: 17 shots with one goal means the luck is due to turn. Carcone's game is skating pressure, and he's been generating chances. If he stays in the lineup, 15 to 20 goals is reasonable.
